Since photographing Mum and Dad's wedding in Bath a few years ago (a lovely day I remember well), this dynamic duo have taken over! Despite a few grumps, I got some great shots out of this pair and enjoyed the general toddler-baby chaos in the studio...
This is a little girl I've photographed 3 times since she was a small baby! This morning she was having a bit of a super serious moment and refused to prove her standing up abilities, but, with those cheeks and those eyelashes, smiling doesn't really matter does it?!
When I first got hands on an SLR camera aged 9, I wished it was a movie camera! As a teenager I made films with a Hi-8 video camera. I've even worked on music in film and TV. My childhood wish is now a reality and I'm thrilled to soon add films as an extension of my portrait photography.
Launching autumn 2016, my 'Story days' will be highly bespoke portrait sessions. Shot in candid black and white, the film and still images will tell a story about your children, your family, your home, and about family life. Story Days are unique to you.
Together, let's capture something timeless...
Congratulations to John and Philippa who were married on Saturday 17th September 2016 at Jesus College, Cambridge. Their wedding day came at the end of an unexpected week of late summer but the beautiful weather did not hold on for them! Friday's total washout was mercifully avoided, but Saturday's temperatures struggled along with the light intensity. Weather never stops wedding guests from partying however, so there was much ice-cream eating, candy floss scoffing, and cocktail drinking! I left the wedding party dancing to an underwater themed disco... don't ask, just look at the octopus shaped balloons!
This morning I met this handsome little chap; a 13 month old who was into everything! It took him all of five minutes to warm up and then it was non-stop running, climbing, block building, shoe stealing and quite a bit of smiling! Great fun! My studio photography highlights are below:
The UK's wholly unexpected late summer heatwave might have collapsed back to normality today, but I was still bathing in sunshine editing this image set! I had a pre-wedding session to shoot for a 2017 wedding and couldn't resist a guaranteed sunset - such a rare thing! The chance had to be jumped on, and at the last minute! Caroline and Axel live near Newmarket but were more than up up for my spontaneity, so we hit the dog walking trail (with dogs in hand), and shot against a sinking sun. It was hot, sweaty and beautiful!
This morning I met just over 4 month old Alexa for her baby session. I actually met Mum and Dad five years ago when I photographed their wedding, and have photographed big brother Deacon before too! It's always lovely to see customers again and again and I look forward to a family session in a few months time....
This morning I had fun in the studio organising chaos with these two! There was a lot of moving about and running away (I didn't expect much less with a 9 month old baby and a 3 year old), but I just about managed to shoot a baby session along with some sister shots... just!
This morning I met 4 month old Leo and what a super-happy little boy he was! He was incredibly friendly and full of (sometimes crazy) expressions. Something tells me he had a good time too!
This morning I met this little 4 month old who found it absolutely hilarious to stick his tongue out at me! The joke seemed never to wear thin either...
Congratulations to Jim & Michelle who were married on Saturday 16th July 2016. Their wedding not only marked my first of the year, it also marked the belated arrival of summer here in the UK and ever since their marriage at Alpheton Barns in Suffolk , the sun has shone! A wedding day that was three years in the making was certainly a hot and sweaty one but the guests were friendly and fun, I got to eat fish and chips from a chip van and even overheard the bride's Mum asking if someone could take a 'selfie' for her? Ah, weddings! Below are a selection of my photography highlights...
This is 10 month old Teddy and he came to see me in the studio along with his Mummy and Daddy. He took all the costume changes and picture variations in his stride so I managed everything from a baby shoot to a family shoot to everything in between... only then did he get a little grumpy :)
Yesterday I saw this terrible two-some for some portraits! I met big brother Fin when he was a baby and this studio session was all about getting photos of his baby brother plus a few of them together - easier said than done :)
This afternoon I met 9 month old Aurora for the second time. She'd grown up a lot since our last session, grown a lot of hair and a lot of fidgetiness! Her character was fantastic however, so even though she was crawling and kicking and waving and all in the wrong direction, she was happy while doing so!
At the weekend I photographed these two terrors! I had met big sister before when she was a baby but this studio session was about baby Ash, the two of them together and to get some family shots. Ash did all he could to make that all a little bit of a challenge ;)
This morning I met a little 7 month old who was full of expression and full of fidget! She did really well even if she got bored by the end of her session (even Mum struggled to hold her interest for more than a second)! My studio photography highlights follow:
This morning I met a baby on cute overload! She was quite shy but had a lovely temperament. Although generally serous, she threw a few beautiful smiles at me and looked super cute doing either! How lucky to have a face that works just as well in serious mode as it does in full smile?
Yesterday I met this little rascal who came to the studio having skipped breakfast and not had her usual morning nap! I've never worked out how it is it that babies know about photography sessions in advance but I believe it must be some sort of magic. Although there were a few grumpy moments, I still manged a full baby and family session with Mum and Dad and got some lovely shots.
This is baby Sophie who is very nearly 1 and she came to see me over the bank holiday weekend. Some babies take a bit of time to warm up and to get comfortable with the strange surroundings of the studio space and Sophie was one of these babies! She got there in then end by crawling at hyper speed around the studio and between a few more clingy moments, I got some lovely shots - it really is all about timing when it comes to baby photography!
This morning I met with this little girl who had lots of energy, a few smiles and lots of interested looking stares. She found her studio photography session quite fascinating which means she'll definitely be a clever one!
