Penelope Wilton (BFG, Downton Abbey, Calendar Girls, Ever Decreasing Circles) recorded a Christian Blind Mission BBC Radio 4 Appeal to raise funds for children living with avoidable blindness in Tanzania. I was commissioned to shoot some location portrait PR photography of her at BBC Broadcasting House in London. I shot this through stillvision.co.uk and was quite a scoop! The appeal will be broadcast on Sunday 19th June 2016 at 7.55am and 9.26pm and on Thursday 23rd June 2016 at 3.27pm. It will also be available to listen to at: bbc.co.uk/radio4/appeal.
This afternoon I met a super fidget baby who really couldn't sit still! He also found himself far more interesting than me who was there trying to entertain him! That said, he had a great range of expressions and what's cuter than a half naked baby in home made wings having a munch on Mum's chin?! My photography highlights are below:
I do enjoy taking delivery of framed items! This triptych is going to look stunning hung on the wall of a lovely home (and I know it is a lovely one)!
Here's a sneak preview from yesterday's session with this little four month old! He was a super smiley baby for exactly ten minutes and then he was super serious! He's clearly a man of many emotions... and expressions...
This morning I had the pleasure of seeing an 8 month old baby I first met as a 4 month old! It's always nice to see babies as they grow up, change personality, get more/less cheeky etc! Baby Harmony was quite a serious little thing and had one of the best fake grumbles I've heard in a long time! Her highlights follow:
This morning I met this rather cute little 4 month old who came to the studio with Mummy and Daddy and big, big, big sister (in an age way!). The session was a little stop-start and baby toes where often more interesting than photographer, but, I manged a good session and combined the baby photography shoot with a family session. Highlights follow:
On what was a lovely spring day yesterday, I drove to meet with Jim & Michele at their wedding venue in Suffolk. Alpheton Hall Barns is an unfamiliar wedding venue to me so I combined their pre-wedding shoot with a nose around the place! It was right up my street with lots of textured walls and coloured gates and doors and although we had to battle against some seriously bright spring sunshine, I got some cracking shots! Bring on the big day in July!
I saw this little chap twice in the week as he wasn't having the best of days during the first session! After one or two early smiles during take 2, Mum and I concluded that photography just isn't his thing... But he still looks super cute serious right?
This afternoon I met one of the most chilled out, relaxed and smiley babies I've ever met! What a cutie! Just shy of 8 months, he was such a show off that it was incredibly hard to get him to look anywhere but at the camera. If only all baby photography sessions were as easy....
Here's Huxley the dog! He's a miniature schnauzer and came to the studio with his family and little 14 month old human brother... Suffice to say the session was quite chaotic! Never work with children and animals they say!
Here's another sneak preview from the weekend and a shoot that broke all those rules about never working with children and animals.... This sessions had both a 14 month old baby and a miniature schnauzer dog called Huxley (who I think deserves his own sneak previews posted above)!
Here's another weekend sneak preview, this time of a five month old smiler! I photographed her sister a couple of years ago and look forward to photographing them together in a few months time.
Yesterday I met a super fun pair of terrible twins in the portrait studio and their session was a classic case of two and a half year old double trouble! There was dancing, singing, laughing and Mr Serious made an appearance too. Here are some sneak preview images:
I love seeing frames as they come in and out of the studio and this one is a real stunner! It's one of my boxit frames which means the photo has been board mounted and framed glass-less. It has a modern yet classic look and this one is a giant! 24" x 24"! Someone will surely be thrilled when they come to collect...
This morning's session was all about this 4 month old chappy I will call Mr Fidget. He wriggled and giggled and every time he smiled he flapped his arms like a bird! And that's quite something when you're in a baby bouncer...
Here's another sneak preview set from a session last week where I met some bigger kids in the portrait studio for the first time in a little while! And didn't they all do well?!
Here's a super photogenic pair from last week! They were great to photograph in the studio and even seemed to enjoy themselves in front of the camera... future top models perhaps?
It's been a week of cheeky monkeys as it's half term week and this pair from a studio session yesterday were no exception! There were plenty of giggles and just as much messing around... and that's how we like it right?
I photographed another cheeky pair in the studio yesterday! Brother and sister this time but the energy levels were just as high as ever. Aren't they always?
My morning's session was a sister session for a family I've photographed a few times before (it's always nice to see a friendly face in the studio)! The session was super quick but I managed to get through my backgrounds and try plenty of outfit changes. What an energetic trio (and yes that's Mum included - she has to keep up with her girls)!
